Meet Dr. Amy Okun: Passionate Dentist at Sunridge Dental Care
Dr. Amy Okun was born and raised in Tempe, Arizona to a very close-knit family. She practically grew up in her father’s practice where she quickly developed a love and desire for dentistry. This, in turn, helped her discover her path and become a professional dentist delivering quality dental care Throughout her childhood, she constantly witnessed her father’s love for the practice of dentistry which resulted in happy, smiling patients. She admired the extent to which his patients, not only cared for him but appreciated his hard work, honesty, and dedication. Dr. Amy is excited to be the third generation and fourth Okun to graduate from New York University College of Dentistry. After graduating, she was Chief Resident for the Residency Program at the NYUCD/Bellevue Hospital. She learned a great deal during that most rewarding experience. It was when she found her passion to serve patients searching for a reliable dentist in Tempe. She then traveled to the Dominican Republic to offer free dentistry to families in need. This proved to be a highly rewarding experience in being able to help people that greatly needed dental care. She is now overjoyed at the opportunity to practice dentistry as a partner with her mentor, friend, and father, Dr. Bruce Okun. Her love for dentistry is obvious once you step into their practice and witness the staff who is treated as family and their patients who are treated with unconditional attention, care, trust, and, most importantly, quality workmanship.
Meet Dr. Cynthia Colson: Passionate Dentist at Sunridge Dental Care
Cynthia Colson, DMD is an Oral Maxillofacial Surgeon who manages a wide variety of problems relating to the mouth, teeth and facial regions. Dr. Colson specializes in wisdom tooth removal, dental implants, facial trauma and corrective surgery to name a few.
Dr. Colson grew up in the Metro area, attending Camelback High School and ASU. She graduated from the University of Kentucky Dental School and completed her residency at Long Island Jewish Hospital in Long Island, New York. She also attended an anesthesia fellowship program at the University of Illinois at Chicago and has traveled with Healing The Children, a non-profit organization, to Bucarumanga Columbia treating patients with cleft lip and palate deformities.
Meet Dr. William F. Gioia: Passionate Dentist at Sunridge Dental Care
A California native, Dr. Gioia moved to Arizona during his freshman year of high school. He and his wife have two daughters, both of whom live in Arizona, and six grandchildren ranging in age from six-year-old paternal twins to a 20-year-old grandson who is a college soccer goaltender. One of his daughters was a dental hygienist, and the other was an OB-GYN.
He has volunteered at Saint Joseph Mercy Dental Care Clinic for 15 years, but previously served as Chief of Staff for two years at the same facility. He has also volunteered with the Arizona State Dental Association Mission of Mercy, which offers free dental care to the indigent.
In his leisure time, Dr. Gioia enjoys fly-fishing, golfing, and CrossFit, attending a 5:00 a.m. class four days a week to try and stay as healthy as possible. He also enjoys cooking, especially baking bread and desserts! Never at a loss to find things that inspire and interest him, Dr. Gioia would love to learn how to sculpt, speak Italian, and develop a singing voice.

Dr. Gioia served as a peer reviewer for the Central Arizona Dental Association and an examiner for doctors renewing their oral conscious sedation certification.
